This latest major release builds on the growth and success of T-Splines across a broad range of industries, including consumer products, jewelry design, automotive design and architecture, and introduces new modeling capabilities, and major speed and flexibility enhancements to the leading organic design product available today.

Top 10 New Features in T-Splines 3 for Rhino

  1. Create ‘piped’ shapes from a network of curves: An easy command to create a wide variety of shapes that can be described by connected or intersecting pipes, from bicycle frames to intricate jewelry. Just lay out the curves, run the pipe command, and you get a solid object you can push and pull for further modification. Update the shape by moving the defining curves, add points of variable radius, attach or detach connections, and incorporate custom joint shape designs at curve intersections. This is a feature you will love to use and will significantly enhance your T-Splines modeling experience.
  2. Match T-Splines surfaces or edges to other NURBS geometry in the model: The feature will match T-Spline surfaces to NURBS surfaces or curves with curvature continuity to any specified tolerance. You can also match interior T-spline edges to NURBS curves. Match takes advantage of patented T-Splines technology to add enough detail to your surface to get the match within the needed tolerance.
  3. Compatibility with Rhino 5 64-bit.
  4. Improved Edit mode for faster and easier manipulation: To provide a more optimized push/pull interaction, the improved T-Splines edit mode provides a number of new options, such as the ability to use manipulators, edge and face grips, soft manipulation, hotkeys, real-time volume calculations, and more.
  5. Improved speed and greater capacity to handle larger models: Over the past several years, the entire T-Spline definition has been rewritten for improved speed and better handling of large models.
  6. Automatic symmetry discovery and new features: Symmetric objects can now be oriented to any cPlane, anywhere in the scene. Symmetry can be discovered on existing objects, and turned off on part of a model while the rest of the model continues to be symmetric.
  7. Start modeling anywhere: Primitives (Box, Plane, Cone, Torus, Sphere, Cylinder or QuadBall shapes) can now be created anywhere in the scene.
  8. Basic Reverse Engineering: Conform the control points of a T-spline primitive to a polysurface or mesh to a specified tolerance.
  9. Export to SolidWorks: The combination of T-Splines 3 for Rhino and tsElements for Solidworks provides a seamless workflow to bring industrial designs and concepts from Rhino into SolidWorks, maintaining full push-pull editing control throughout.
  10. Optimized Subdivision surface to NURBS conversion: This feature is a push-button conversion, made more robust by providing tolerance to some triangles in the source model and providing options to repair the mesh and optimize the NURBS patch layout.
